One of the sherds has an incised groove decoration indicating that this groove must have run around the main body of the vessel. The sherds are too small to be that diagnostic. The sherds are worn and abraded suggesting that it formed part of a manuring scatter. Total weight: 32.9g.

The second sherd is a body sherd. The sherds most probably date to the late 13th –14th century. The sherds are too small to be that diagnostic. A fragment of a mid medieval stabbed strip handle, from a large jug. This type of handle can be dated to c. 1250 – 1350. The handle has been handmade and has then has ‘stab’ marks applied to the outer (visible) surface. The clay is sand tempered and has frequent inclusions of ironstone within the temper. The handle fragment weighs 31.2g.
