An incomplete cast copper-alloy medieval buckle with integral plate. The oval frame has two loped knobs on the outer edge. The integral tapering plate has a pinhole that still retains a complete copper-alloy wire pin, The plate is broken at the start of a rivet hole. The surviving length is 20.0mm, the width is 12.6mm and the weight is 0.98g.

Only a fragment of the copper-alloy pin survives looped around the narrowed and offset strap bar. Both the plates are missing. Incomplete cast copper-alloy late Roman buckle. The incurved or concave frame has been cast in one with an integral openwork plate. The surviving fragment of the plate has a rectangular pin hole with a circular rivet hole to either side; one of these still retains a copper-alloy rivet, but the other is incomplete. There are traces of shaped edges to the plate, and two rounded openwork perforations; the plate probably originally tapered to form a triangle. A complete copper-alloy buckle and plate. The cast single loop D-shaped frame has a narrowed and offset strap bar with a knob either side. Looped around the bar is a square-sectioned copper-alloy pin. The one-piece copper-alloy sheet buckle plate is folded around the strap bar and has a slot for the pin. The plate has two copper-alloy rivets at the opposite end. Both the buckle frame and plate have been tinned. The length of the buckle is 39.1mm, the width is 10.6mm and the weight is 5.06g.
