Incomplete cast copper alloy medieval buckle plate. This fragment represents the incomplete front plate of a folded buckle plate. Only the middle and rear portion survive, so there is no trace of the recessing for the pin bar or the pin slot. The rear plate is entirely missing. The front plate was once rectangular in plan. It was cast with the raised moulding of a beast, probably a lion, advancing left and looking back over its shoulder. The head and front legs of the animal are now missing. The plate is openwork so that subcircular perforations divide the legs. The plate is damaged so…

Complete copper alloy medieval annular buckle. The buckle is formed from a circular loop frame, circular in section, that is of mostly even thickness with no pin constriction. It is ever so slightly buckled. One portion of the frame appears slightly wasted, but this is probably due to wear and rubbing from the pin loop. The pin is simply curled around the loop. It is circular in section with a lower edge diagonal faced tip and a ridged grip between the curled loop and the shaft. The object has an even dark green patina. The buckle has a diameter of 39.48mm.
