A medieval finger-ring bezel in the shape of an angel holding a heart. It measures 12.57mm in height, 14.16mm in width and weighs 2.69g. On the reverse is a mark which indicates where the hoop was soldered. The bezel is silver-gilt and dates from the late fifteenth or early sixteenth centuries, and so qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 (J P Robinson, Curator of Medieval Collections, British Museum, 9th August 2005). A finger ring with a very similar bezel has been found in Kingston Deverill, Wiltshire (WILT-2C75F1).

A late Medieval finger-ring formed of a flat band with a heart-shaped bezel. The bezel is grooved and into the central groove is engraved a letter, probably a crowned R, though the engraving is very rudimentary. The band is decorated with a series of diapered lozenges alternating with flowers. The ring is silver-gilt and dates from the late fifteenth or early sixteenth centuries. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 (J. P. Late medieval silver gilt finger-ring with a slightly bent c.24.5mm diameter hoop (internal 21.5mm). The hoop is flat in section and 5mm wide. The join of the two ends is still visible behind the incomplete two-dimensional mount, in place of a bezel. The hoop is decorated with seven diamond shapes, formed of two grooved lines of opposing V shapes. At the centre of each diamond is a closed or open o shape, probably not a punch because each is inconsistent with the others in shape and size. One, adjacent to the central mount, has a straight groove 'closing' the gap of a c shape. …

A medieval finger-ring, much distorted and recently repaired. It consists of a simple, flat, tapering band with a plain back and a front decorated with panels of stippled ornament. The shoulders each bear a simple cross and the centre is engraved with a lozenge. The recesses of the design were probably originally filled with niello, some of which appears to survive in the central panel. The finger-ring is silver and dates from the twelfth century. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of …

A medieval finger-ring, with a double-faceted bezel and a cabled hoop. The ring is badly abraded and almost certainly carried the image of one or two saints, though no depiction is clearly distinguishable. The shoulders are decorated with heart-shaped flowers resembling tulips, either side of a cabled band. The ring is (probably) silver-gilt, and dates from the late 15th Century or early 16th Century. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

Incomplete 15th century silver gilt iconographic finger ring. It is triangular in section with each edge and the central mid-rib accentuated. The central rib clearly divides the bezel into two facets. On each is inscribed a crude and unidentifiable figure. Usually these take the form of saints, but in this case the second appears to have a skull-like head - possibly a depiction of life and death? Either side of the bezel the shoulders have also two facets. These are decorated with a roughly oval recess nearest the bezel, from which a groove extends downards to the (oldish) breaks. Eith…

The bezel comprises a slightly raised rectangular section (length 8.6mm; width 7.24mm). The front of the bezel has a small pattern cut in negative relief, possibly representing a bird in profile. Alternatively this may not be a pattern, merely damage. The hoop on either side of the bezel has been moulded to form a beaded section 10.26mm long. The reverse is plain and the hoop has a D-shaped section. Dimensions: approximate diameter 23.13mm; Weight 3.94g
