Record ID: BUC-1EC8A0
Object type: STRAP END
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Buckinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A copper alloy Roman strap end. The lower part is an elongated lozenge shape with an upper rectangular end above two pairs of opposed curving lugs. One one side the lozenge is decorated with two vertically arranged incised dot and circle motifs, terminating with two incised horizontal lines. A line of dots forms a border and these are combined with crescent shaped marks below the lugs. This resembles the 'amphora strap-end' type (Clarke 1979, 281), although the lack of rivet or bifurcated end makes this identification uncertain.
