Nineteen microburins, largest length 15mm, width 10mm, thickness 3mm, smallest length 6mm, width 6mm, thickness 1mm. These are the butts of microlithis and are waste products from the manufacturing process. Most have one arise on the dorsal. All have either concave retouch on one of the corners, which would have facilitated the removal of the point from the butt, or this area is snapped without the retouch. About 70% have a light grey patina, 15% have a creamy patina and the rest have a mid grey patina. These artefacts date to the Late Mesolithic. This is part of an assemblage…

Object type: BLADE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Incomplete retouched blade of mesolithic date. The blade would have been longer but has been broken across its width. The break is old as seen by levels of wear. Both edges have been retouched with sub-parallel removals. This forms a knife edge. The blade was knapped from dark grey flint, and ripples of percussion can be seen along its length.

Object type: FLAKE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Kent

A Mesolithic flake. Original note suggested a 'tranchet axe'. The images indicates a possible large flake, but not a core-tool such as an axe. The flake is knapped from dark grey flint. It was originally suggested that this 'axe' gave evidence of 'subsequent flakes removed to resharped the blade'. A simple category of flake is assigned by the photograph image.
