Bronze Age copper alloy socketed axe fragment, blade end. There are well filed casting lines running down either side. There are no raised ribs on either surface. There is a long groove on the broken end - the end of the socket. Very little of the cutting edge remains. The sides of the cutting edge do not flare - this does not appear to have been re-sharpened very often. Much of the original surface is missing on one side. The original surface has a fine brown patina. This may have been deliberately cut. Viewed from the sides the broken edge is slightly convex (a very shallow v), per…

The object appears to be the tip of a Bronze Age spear head. It has been made from cast copper alloy. In plan it is an elongated triangular shape, with a blunt tip. In profile it has a lozenge shaped section with two of the opposite corners being rounded. The break is not recent. Where the spear head is broken there is a slight concave area, which is where the socket of the spear presumably terminated. The object has a well developed mid green patina.
