A lead Early Tudor token (c.1490-1545). These tokens were usually a lead, tin, pewter alloy (Mitchiner and Skinner 1984:102). The token probably belongs to the Tau Cross type, although the reverse is plain. The obverse has a plain cross in a circle with an oblique anti-clockwise ray border. It is similar to no. 13 plate 6 pg. 147 in Mitchiner and Skinner "Early Tudor Tokens c.1425-1672" British Numismatic Journal vol. 54 1984, although there are wider spaces between the rays in the border. All the tokens featured in this article have a London provenance. It is likely this token a…

A cast lead token bearing a pictorial-geometric design, with evidence of a line across the diameter on the reverse (diameter: 21.9mm; thickness: 2.1mm; weight: 5.51g). This token possibly dates to the Early Tudor period (late 15th-16th century AD), and is similar to examples illustrated in Mitchiner & Skinner's 'English Tokens c. 1425-1672' within The British Numismatic Journal Volume 54, 1984, page 151 & plate 10, ref no 98-9. This token is worn but in a fair condition.

A Bear Jeton alluding to Languedoc from southwestern France. The bear was a local emblem that had no links with French regal coin designs, but instead alluded to a legendary beast (Malle Beste) which roamed the night in Toulouse. This suggests that bear jetons were struck for local use. This trading token shows a bear walking left on all four limbs with three surrounding flowers, which are thought to represent a field. The inscription around the edge reads +CEST : LA MALLE : BEST. The reverse side depicts a triple straight cross fleuretty within a four arched tressure. An exact example…
