The object is a decorative item, but its function is unknown. The style of the central figure, the nature of the corrosion and the traces of gilding suggest an Early Medieval date. In plan the object is sub-circular, with some of the edge being abraded and missing. The object does not lie flat, instead it is undulating, but this maybe due to damage rather than purposeful. The object has a lattice of openwork which centres on a four-legged animal. The openwork voids are all unique and vary slightly in size. The central animal appears to be looking over its shoulder so the head i…

Each openwork element depicts the neck and head of a bird. Each bird has a stylised eye comprising a single ring-and-dot mark. Medieval copper alloy belt mount or sheet spangle, apparantly unpierced. It is square in shape, the edges slightly damaged and measuring c.16x16mm. The edge appears frilled in places, although this could equally be wear. The repousse decoration consits of four 3mm diameter circles in the four quadrants created by a cross, within a square. On the reverse the surface is very grey, the hollow reverses of the repousse decoration being filled with a ?concretion. Perhaps reflecting to what it was attached, or how it was attached?? Weighs 0.52g.

Medieval copper unidentified object, probably some kind of mount and ??possibly unfinished, or even a practice piece. It measures c.52x15x0.2mm and weighs 3.11g. One long edge has been damaged relatively recently while the other is serrated along two thirds of its length (the remaining third is unaltered). At the centre, but slightly nearer to the serrated edge, is a 2mm diameter piercing. Running along most of this central axis but to the other side of the piercing are some not very well constructed repoussee dots (they are not immediately obvious).
