Cast copper alloy D-shaped buckle with composite plate. The buckle loop is incomplete. The rectangular plate has a forked spacer, and is secured by two extant copper alloy rivets. Circa 1250-1450.

Very corroded Post-Medieval cast copper alloy double loop buckle. There are moulded knops extending from either end of the narrow strap bar, however the exact design of these is unclear due to corrosion. The frame is wide with a bevelled inside edge.

Broken cast copper alloy rectangular buckle. The outside edge of the frame is bevelled, and the ends of the frame are pointed. Small knobs extend from either end of the narrow strap bar. The pin is missing. The frame is broken into two pieces, both surviving.

Cast copper alloy double looped oval buckle. There are five filled grooves on each loop, giving the outer edge of the frame a cusped appeance. The strap bar is narrow, and has a knop extending from one end. The pin is missing. The buckle has a dark brown patina. This style of buckle dates from 1450 to 1600.

Gold and cloisonné garnet setting from the tongue plate of a high status buckle. The setting is sub-rectangular with curved cutaways defining the shoulders. It is made with a sheet gold back plate to which is soldered a single strip of gold sheet set on edge to form a frame for the cloisonné cell work. This is inlaid with well cut garnets over pointillé foil and fills the panel with a design of two skilfully entwined snakes: their heads with well defined open jaws fill the lower corners and their sinuous bodies interlace across the centre of the panel to end in tails tucked beneath…

Silver buckle and plate. The buckle is of oval shape; a bar along the outside edge has a notch for the pin. The pin is broken off, only the loop of the pin surviving. The plate, of slightly tapering form, has a single rivet hole in each side; the rivet is missing. The buckle dates to the 13th or 14th century. When found, the buckle loop was folded back over the plate, with a silver coin between buckle loop and plate (KENT-323DF7).

Cap made of gold sheet, perhaps the covering of a rivet. The cap is fashioned into a well shaped dome, with the edge cleanly finished. It may have originally covered a rivet from the toe or shoulder of a large triangular buckle, attaching the front plate of the buckle through leather to the back plate.
