Roman dolphin brooch fragment with spring mechanism. There is a backward pointing hook to hold the chord – there is a shallow, wide groove across this, then the hook extends a short way down the bow, as a slightly raised central rib. The wings are undecorated except for a single faint groove at the end of each. There is a raised collar on either side of the bow. Anglo-Saxon Copper alloy brooch, 30mm long, 17mm wide and 2.5mm thick. The brooch weighs 4.49grams and has a green patina. It represents the central portion of a cruciform or small long brooch. The brooch is largely flat and is decorated with incised cup and ring marks, at least three can be seen. One end has a sharp angle where the bow would emerge but the other edges are very fragmentary with no clue to their shape. The reverse has the remains of a loop which is surrounded by iron corrosion.

Roman copper alloy bow brooch, 52mm long, 33mm wide with a weight of 14.71grams. The brooch has a dark brown patina and is in good condition. The brooch has a hinged pin which is missing and a complete catchplate 25mm long and 8mm at its widest. The brooch is plain except for a chevron formed of small incised lines on the shoulder and a vertical incised line just inside the edge of each arm. The base of the brooch has a splayed foot with an incised line above. It matches closely 361, Fig 158 in hattatt.

Fragment from an early medieval gold brooch or mount. Rectangular fragment of very fine sheet gold with a filigree border and decoration (from one end to another) of a filigree S-scroll, a now empty raised circular cell, two filigree annulets, then a raised rectangular cell containing what appears to be possibly degraded blue enamel (now mostly opaque white). The reverse is undecorated, although the impression of the cells and filigree can be seen. Length 17.90mm, width 9.30mm, overall thickness 2.70mm, thickness of sheet 0.18mm, weight 0.79g.

Unusual Roman bow brooch with hinge mechanism but with a cast fake spring, chord and hook. The wings are ill defined so that the shaped of the head is triangular. There is a small area of red enamel on the bow. The bow is broken. The brooch is very thick. Little of the dark green original surface remains. Presumably 1st century AD. Length (including bent pin) 31.36mm, width of wings 26.78mm, thickness 12.54mm, weight 21.67g.

A long, thick Roman bow brooch. It has no arms surviving and the exposed pin coil and holding lug have gone. The bow has several ribs moulded along its length and is rather straight for the lower two thirds and then bends severely before the head. Roman copper alloy double bowed knee brooch variant? The brooch has a rectangular spring casing which is decorated with a series of concentric raised rectangles. The double bows protrude from the centre of this and are both decorated with raised vertical lines. The bows have a pronounced semi-circular curve and join together to form a single indented terminal. Just above this is a protruding point? on each side of the front of the brooch. There is no sign of a catchplate and I cannot see if theh spring is present.

A very long 2nd century Roman enamelled plate Brooch. The head is triangular and has a broken, broad protrusion fromthe top - probably a suspension loop. The head is decorated with a blue enamel triangle above two raised circles all set into a once enamelled waisted rectangle. Below this is a large transverse enamelled crescent (with points downwards). Two red bordered blue circles with central red dots, divided by a bronze frame, once set into a blue field, are set above a red bordered blue triangle. The foot is a tapering D-sectioned rod culminateing in a (now broken) ring.

An early Roman trumpet derivative brooch. It has a broken suspension loop issuing from the splayed head. Running along the curve of the bow and sticking out at a right angle from the upper surface is a pair of small loops (now broken)divided by a triangular flange. On the left side of the bow is an oval protrusion which is not present on the other side. The foot tapers and is of a plain D-section terminating in a rounded knop. On the reverse is a solid catchplate and a boxed double pin lug behind the head. The pin bar has left some iron residue.
