A broken copper-alloy brooch or badge with heraldic design, probably a livery badge worn by a servant in a gentry household in the 19th century. The badge consists of a crescent, with a recessed area in its broader part, with an arrow crossing through it at a slight angle, the arrow passes under one part and over another. Both the crescent and the arrow have traces of gilding on them. The crescent measures c21mm in diameter and the arrow c30mm in length. Copper alloy plate brooch, cast in the shape of an elongated bow. The brooch is complete with a copper alloy hinged pin and catchplate on the reverse. The surface of the brooch is highly corroded with traces of silvering or tinning on the front. The front of the brooch also has red-orange enamel, however there are no raised fields in which the enamel would have been contained. The design on the front of the brooch is unclear due to the level of corrosion. The reverse of the brooch is almost completely black in colour, with a small amount of copper showing through.
