Small rather thick coin (diam 11.5mm, thickness varying c.1.8 to 2.5mm), slightly dished and almost certainly Iron Age. Metal probably silver but discoloured. The reverse makes most sense as a horse to right, in the style of Icenian Pattern-Horse types with a double mane and simplified body but the obverse has a couple of high relief spots which make no sense as an Iceni design. Perhaps heat damaged?

Silver Iron Age unit of Cunobelin. The coin is in good condition, although it has been fairly poorly struck and the legend cannot be discerned. Coins of the same type are illustrated in Hobbs (1996, page 129-130; plate 60; figs 1874-1878). The coin dates from the end of the first century BC to the beginning of the first century AD.
