Two sherds of Roman pottery. One is a body sherd and the other is a rim sherd, both from 'Braughing type' greyware jars of possible 2nd century AD date. The vessels represented have rilled round shoulders and plain necks. The fabric is a light yellowish grey with occasional small stone inclusions. The sherds are relatively unabraded. They measure 59.7mm and 55.1mm wide and together weigh 39.75g.

An assemblage of 23 Roman pottery sherds. Body sherds from round shouldered or rilled greyware jars. Most probably date from around the 2nd century AD. The sherds range in size, from 21.1mm to 65mm wide and, in condition, from very abraded to unabraded. The fabrics are generally light grey in colour and have occasional fine stone inclusions. The total weight is 194g.

An assemblage of five sherds of Roman pottery. Three of the sherds originate from 1st to 2nd century Verulamium White Ware vessels - two (a rim and a body sherd) from a flagon, and one from a mortarium. The other two are body sherds from an unknown source. All sherds are abraded. The Verulamium White Ware is creamy white in colour and has frequent sand inclusions. The total weight of the assemblage is 39.8g.

A Roman pottery sherd. Body sherd, possibly from a Dressel 27 southern Gaulish type vessel of 1st century AD date. The fabric is mid orange brown in colour and the slip is a shiny reddish brown. It is slightly abraded and measures 26.1mm long by 25.9mm wide and 5.1mm thick. It weighs 4.61g.

A Saxo-Norman rim sherd from a cooking pot (11th century). The everted rim is decorated with thumb impressions. The fabric is grey/buff with medium sized sandy and shelly frequent inclusions. The external surface has been “smoothed” to create a finer surface. The pot was wheel-thrown. The rim is blackened through use. The radius of the rim originally was approximately 15cm; there is about 4% of the rim remaining. Weight: 31.31g
