A gold signet ring dating to the late 16th or 17th century. The finger-ring has a flat sub-circular bezel engraved with a monogram within an inner plain and outer beaded border. The monogram consists of the bold seriffed initials IT, with the T superimposed on the I. The T has a curled stem. The edge of the bezel is decorated with a further row of beading and a plain incised line which delineates the top of the narrow shoulders. The shoulders taper to a slender hoop, which is now distorted. This form of ring is characteristic of signet rings of the period.

A gold probably 18th century posy finger ring. The ring has a D-shaped section with plain exterior. The outer edges of the D-shaped section appears to be chamfered, giving the section an almost trapezoidal shape. Part of the hoop is more worn than any other part of the finger ring, around one side of the outer edge. The interior has been inscribed in lower case italic script: "A token of my love", which is followed by a markers mark. A similar inscription is recorded by Joan Evans, English Posies and Posy-Rings (Oxford, 1931), p. 23, but an exact match could not be found. The makers ma…

TREASURE CASE 2005 T421 A rare gold pendant, dating to the Midle Bronze Age. Biconical pendant made using narrow, c-sectioned gold strip wound spirally. The piece tapers to each end, having its maximum diameter across the mid-section. One end is broken off (missing) and there is slight compression at this end. An eyelet for suspension is placed centrally at the thickest part and this appears to be of the same c-sectioned strip. The hollow pendant was plugged with dirt at the time of inspection. Maximum surviving length 24mm; thickness at mid-section 6mm; weight 1.75 grams. Composition…

TREASURE CASE 2005 T420 Description A narrow rectangular strip of gold, plain except for a very light ridge running along the centre of one face. Either end has a perforation slightly offset from the centre-line and about 1 mm in diameter. One end has a second, smaller perforation alongside the first. The strip is somewhat buckled all along its length and has also been pinched from side to side at two points close to the ends. Two creases are roughly equi-distant from the ends and are 34 mm apart - exactly half the full length; they suggest that the object was originally wrapped aroun…
