The basic type is easy enough to classify - British A, VA 200, one of the earliest gold staters produced in Britain, possibly with gold imported in the form of Gallo-Belgic coinages. Exactly where it was produced is slightly more controversial, and although VA attributes it to the Atrebates, the findspots tend to be more from the North Thames. Gallo-Belgic quarter stater. Philip De Jersey comments; CCI 05.0303. A quarter stater, this is a Gallo-Belgic import, VA 69-1. Produced probably by the Morini in northern Gaul and imported into Britain in quite significant numbers (at least a couple of hundred now recorded). This is the type which is sometimes described as having three men in a boat on the obverse (here rather worn), and an 'oak tree by a stream' on the reverse.
