A copper-alloy medieval buckle frame. The frame is oval with a forked spacer, although the forks of the spacer are broken at 7 mm from the frame. The corroded remains of an iron pin are evident in the space between the two spacer forks. The buckle is slightly rounded on the obverse and flat on the reverse. The buckle is similar to examples illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1991, page 79; fig 323) which is dated to between 1350 and 1400. This example is likely to be of a similar date.

A probable copper-alloy buckle frame, likely to be medieval to post-medieval in date. The frame is quatrafoil shaped. Its dimensions are 15.7 mm x 15.7 mm. One of the outer edges of the foils is flattened, evidently for use as a bar, probably for attachment of a plate and pin.

A copper-alloy strap fitting. The fitting consists of a single loop, which is D-shaped. On the flat side of the loop is a projection, 3 mm long, circular in section, and 1.5 mm in diameter. This presumably attached the loop to an object, possibly a small casket or other light item of furniture. The object is likely to be medieval to post-medieval in date.

A copper-alloy buckle plate. The plate is tiny, at 10.5 mm in length and 9.8 mm in width. The plate is rectangular and has two adjacent rivet holes, both 2 mm in diameter. It would have once been attached to a buckle frame by two strips which would have been bent over to hold the frame in place. These strips are, however, broken. The buckle frame and pin are therefore missing. The reverse of the plate is plain, but the obverse retains traces of gilding. The buckle plate is likely to be Medieval in date.

NB - this items lacks the area with the definitive rebate for a tongue in jews' harps and the profile differs from those of complete examples. It may well therefore be a completely different category of object. A copper-alloy Jews' Harp. The instrument is broken, missing half of its rounded head and one of its arms. The remaining arm is quite short at 19 mm in length. The shape of what remains of the head is also quite unusual, projecting out to the side further than on most examples. As on most examples discovered in the ground the iron tongue, which would be twanged to create a soun…

A copper-alloy horse harness pendant in the shape of a triangular shield. The 'shield' has rounded shoulders, and Irene Syzmanski has suggested that these point to a date in the first half of the 13th century. The pendant has a suspension loop at the top which is set at an angle to the plane of the pendant. The reverse of the pendant is plain but the obverse is decorated with a series of four depressed chevrons pointing upwards. Traces of enamel remain in the chevron grooves, and underneath the enamel there are some traces of red, probably the coloration from a base used in the enamell…

Silver medieval short cross penny, probably of Henry III. The coin is quite worn and the lettering and field is hard to make out, but the apparent absence of pellets in the beard and hair suggest that this is a later short cross penny, possibly of type 7C. The mint is London. The moneyer is unknown.
