Object type: MOUNT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete copper-alloy decorative strap mount. Rectangular in shape and consisting of two sheets held together with a small copper-alloy rivet through either end, which would have originally have attached this mount to a leather strap or belt. It measures 27mm in length and 18mm in width. There is a circular perforation through the centre of this mount. There are similar mounts from London and it is thought that they have a specalised function, but this has not yet been identified. They are believed to be mid14th-15th century in date (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 224-226).
