An incomplete copper-alloy decorative strap mount. Rectangular in shape and consisting of two sheets held together with a small copper-alloy rivet through either end, which would have originally have attached this mount to a leather strap or belt. It measures 27mm in length and 18mm in width. There is a circular perforation through the centre of this mount. There are similar mounts from London and it is thought that they have a specalised function, but this has not yet been identified. They are believed to be mid14th-15th century in date (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 224-226).

A copper-alloy plaque or mount 26mm square and 2mm thick with a hole at each corner for fixing screws or pins, and a central circular cruciform pattern on one side enriched with enamels. The motif consists of a central equal-armed cross, shown in red or brown enamel. This was further outlined by enamel of a second colour which has now completely degraded, leaving a recessed channel where it is lost. The missing colour not only outlined the central cross, but at the tip of each arm it splayed into three small arms or prongs, each ending with a ball or circle. As a background to this, th…

A copper-alloy incomplete object which is most likely to have functioned as a mount. It consists of four evenly spaced arms and measuring c29mm by c29mm. No parallel could be found for this object, which from its style perhaps is likely to be late early medieval, that is late Anglo-Saxon or Viking Age in date. Each arm has a rounded face and a flat back. In the centre of the face, where the arms meet, is an incised cross. Each arm terminates in a zoomorphic terminal with two parallel circular indentations representing eyes and a square ended snout. On the flat back are two op…

An unusual incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman mount, possibly from a box, vessel or strap, too little of the reverse of this object now survives to be sure what it would have been attached to. The front face is circular in shape and measures 23.5mm in diameter. It has three concentric circular ridges and between these there are the remains of milleforie enamelling. The outer circle contains fragments of a green cross-hatched design with a white background which appears to have originally have been alternated with a red cross-hatched design on a white background. There is another hole through the centre of a projecting semi-circular lobe, which projects from one long edge, just before the break.
