A copper-alloy mount. The mount is apparently a broken portion of a rectangular mount with two at least two rivet holes. Both of these rivet holes are broken and a narrow 'bridge' of the artefact runs between them, until it too is broken. The obverse of the mount has traces of gilding remaining. The reverse is unadorned. It is difficult to determine the function of such a fragmentary artefact, and a date is likewise hard to establish.

A copper-alloy mount of uncertain date. The mount is cut from a very thin piece of metal. It appears to take the form of a highly stylised canine face, either a fox or a wolf. The eyes are formed from two openwork sub-triangles. Sub-rectangular knopped ears are located to either side of an angular band that runs horizontally above the eyes. The muzzle is formed as the general sub-triangular form of the mount reaches its apex. The angular form of the object is unusual and no parallel for the artefact has yet been found. Its date is therefore uncertain.

A cast copper alloy object, which could be a mount. The object is cruciform shaped. The length of the two arms do differ, one measures 41.7mm the other measures 41.32mm. The terminals of the arms all are well rounded. The object is slightly convex and the centre is raised above the level of the arms. In the centre of the object there is a rounded knop. This knop is surrounded by four holes, which are in line with the each arm. At the rounded terminal of each arm there are also holes drilled through the copper alloy. The reverse is concave and the eight holes can be seen. The object mea…

Small fragment of a Celtic style face made from copper alloy. The face is broken around the edges and at the neck. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The front surface is very slightly domed and the features are crude; almond shaped eyes, a triangular nose, and a simple oval mouth. At the neck there is a line of three raised pellets. The face looks too crude to be part of a pilgrims badge therefore the date of this object is unclear. The face weighs 3.91g and measures 22.55mm in length, 16.19mm in width and 3.88mm in thickness.

TREASURE CASE 2005 T420 Description A narrow rectangular strip of gold, plain except for a very light ridge running along the centre of one face. Either end has a perforation slightly offset from the centre-line and about 1 mm in diameter. One end has a second, smaller perforation alongside the first. The strip is somewhat buckled all along its length and has also been pinched from side to side at two points close to the ends. Two creases are roughly equi-distant from the ends and are 34 mm apart - exactly half the full length; they suggest that the object was originally wrapped aroun…

A cast copper alloy mount or similar object with the remains of a suspension loop. The mount is roughly shield shaped in design, but is slightly concave. On the front of the mount there is a stylised head, in a Romanised/ Neo-classical design. The face has a slender nose, a small mouth and large rounded eyes, within ropework borders. Around the head an elaborate hair style can be seen, again made up of a sort of ropework design. Below the head there is a small drilled hole, which looks as though it could be a later addition to the piece. The top of the object is flat and the remains …

At the opposite terminal is a rivet hole centrally placed, close to the edge of the mount. There are traces of corrosion on the reverse. On the front face there are two narrow raised lines of decoration, on either side of a shallow groove, running the length of the mount.

Undated copper alloy and silver mount, 29mm in diameter and 11mm thick. The object is in a fair condition with a green patina and weighs 13.67 grams. The object appears to be the back plate of some sort of mount and has two semi-circular bands of copper alloy, 26mm long and 10mm wide, attached to the back. These are incomplete, with broken edges, but appear to have been fixing loops. Curiously the object has five silver rivets, four are arranged in a square formation but the fifth is in the centre and underneath the loops. This may suggest that the loops are later additions?
