Record ID: LON-E9C2A8
Object type: TOY
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Greater London Authority
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A Medieval Miniature toy bowl. Miniature bowls such as this one are thought to represent a pudding or flour basin as opposed to a tea bowl or punch bowl due to the plainness of design (Forsyth and Egan. 2005.110). This artefact although relatively plain incorporates a chevron design on the inside rim and two linear grooves running around the middle of the outside. Miniature kitchen wear such as toy bowls were thought to have been aimed at girls, with miniature knights for the boys (Forsyth and Egan. 2005.60).

A copper-alloy object, possibly a post-medieval purse bar. The object is 39.5 mm long. It has a circular hole in the centre, 5 mm in diameter, through which a bar or piece of fabric was presumably once passed. Either side of this hole the frame becomes rectangular, and is at angle to the circular centre of the object. The frame is open, creating two rectangular loops to either side, and on an angle to the plane of the central, circular loop. These rectangular loops are 12 x 6 mm in dimension. Once again, these loops were presumably for attachment, either for suspension of the object, o…
