A small circular, millstone grit stone which was thought to be an edge runner that worked with a larger main stone. The stone has a flat grinding surface with traces of the furrows visible in places. The 60mm diameter central hole has two rectangular sockets, 30 mm across, on either side of it, with iron staining in them. The sides of the stone are vertical and the upper surface is convex to within 40mm of the central hole. From here it is concave around the hole. Two other holes opposite, each other on the upper surface, penetrate about half way into the stone.
