Roman coin, either a dupondius or as. It is in very poor condition, with the whole coin pitted and chipped. It has a distinctive red/copper colour in parts. This and the size and weight suggests the denomination. As these were issued from the end of the 1st century BC to the 3rd century AD, it can only be given a very broad Roman date.
