Object type: HARNESS MOUNT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Northamptonshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Medieval decorative gilded cast copper alloy harness pendant hanger, 13th or 14th century. Circular openwork disc, slightly convex on the obverse & concave on the reverse, with ten unevenly shaped and placed piercings (possibly based on a debased lion rampant?), and traces of gilding on the obverse. There is an integral projecting stud on the reverse which is slightly bent upwards and to the left - this would have attached the hanger to the harness. A pair of loops holding a copper alloy rivet project from one edge, and would have held the harness pendant. Length 30.38mm, width 22.68m…

Record ID: DENO-C05858
Object type: SOCKETED AXEHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Northamptonshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Bronze Age copper alloy socketed axe fragment, blade end. There are well filed casting lines running down either side. There are no raised ribs on either surface. There is a long groove on the broken end - the end of the socket. Very little of the cutting edge remains. The sides of the cutting edge do not flare - this does not appear to have been re-sharpened very often. Much of the original surface is missing on one side. The original surface has a fine brown patina. This may have been deliberately cut. Viewed from the sides the broken edge is slightly convex (a very shallow v), per…
