A Medieval copper alloy buckle (AD1150-1450). The buckle has an oval frame, with D-shaped cross-section and offset bar. Along the outer edge, the frame has moulded decoration comprising an expanded section (length 13.66mm) with three transverse grooves. Presumably the central groove would have acted as a pin rest. The pin is missing. Mid green patina.
It is similar to no. 294 found in London although the mouldings differ slightly. (Egan, 1991: 73).

A Medieval copper alloy brooch with collets (12th -15th century). The brooch has a circular frame with a constriction for the pin. The pin loop is incomplete although this may be due to damage. There is a raised ridge at the junction between the pin loop and the pin shaft. The frame is constructed from a flat circular ring then the decorative ring is soldered on top. A Medieval copper alloy circular buckle (12th -14th century). The frame is circular and irregular. Both the front and reverse faces are flattened with the sides curving. The frame is not decorated and does not have a pin constriction. The pin curves around the frame to attach it. It is undecorated and has a D-shaped cross-section. Dark green patina.
It is similar but smaller than no. 31 found in London. (Egan 1991: 58)

A Neolithic stone axehead (3,500 - 2,100BC). The axehead is a flaked heavy rough-out with no traces of grinding or polishing. It has a curved cutting edge (width: 82.43mm) and slightly tapering sides to a thin, broad butt (width: 51.41mm). There is some modern damage that has removed the majority of the butt. Dark grey brown stone, Lesley Dunlop (The Oxfordshire Museum, Woodstock) has identified the stone as a fine-grained sandstone - Sarcen. A flint flake with no visible retouch (?Mesolithic - Neolithic). The flint is dark blue-grey with a mottled pale white-grey patina; there are some rust spots present on the surface of the flint. This is a secondary flake with four previous removals from the dorsal surface. There is some modern damage to the edges and the butt. If there was any retouch present the modern damage has obscured it.

A flint blade with some retouch around the tip (Mesolithic - Neolithic). The flint is mid grey-brown and 1 facet of the dorsal surface has a thick opaque patina. This is a secondary blade flake with four removals from the dorsal surface. There is very fine retouch around the tip of the blade; the retouch extends along 11.78mm on the left side and then curves around the tip. It is retouched from the dorsal surface only.

A late Iron Age to early Roman copper alloy Colchester brooch. It is a one-piece brooch with a short plain crossbar, and spring with an external chord held by a rearward lock. The spring has eight turns. The bow is decorated with a twisted rope motif extending down the midline to the foot. The catchplate has broken in antiquity and been repaired with a separate plate riveted to the bow with two rivets. The pin rest of the replacement catchplate is now missing. Dark brown patina. Two Roman copper alloy decorative mounts (AD43-200). These mounts are probably military in origin possibly from belt plates of scabbard plates (Bishop & Coulston 1993: 89 and 97). Stylistically the two fragments are very similar but they do not conjoin. They comprise two strips of sheet copper alloy with parallel sides and pressed/hammered decoration. There is a raised border running parallel to both the sides. In between these borders is a large raised ring and dot motif (diameter: 10mm) then two raised dots (arranged in line) to one side. An early - mid Iron Age copper alloy fragment of a brooch (800-200BC). The fragment is penannular and constructed from a curved rod forming an incomplete oval. It is decorated on the front surface with ribbing - parallel transverse incised lines; the reverse is undecorated. One end is slightly expanded and flattened. The other end is roughened ?a broken surface. A very dark green, even patina. Identified by Dr JD Hill, British Museum. Dr Hill found a parallel in the Morel Catalogue from a grave in the Champagne District.

A Medieval copper alloy buckle with decorated frame. The frame is sub-circular with a straight, offset bar that narrows slightly for the pin; the pin is no longer present. The front surface of the frame is decorated with regularly spaced notches; the reverse is undecorated. The buckle has an even, dark green patina. The buckle is similar to number 392, however this buckle is undecorated (Egan & Pritchard 1993:89 fig. 55).

A copper alloy arrow-shaped bar mount with two curved spikes on the reverse (16th century). The curved spikes (circular section) are both aligned towards the point of the arrow (projecting 5.59mm). The mount is a stylised arrow-shape bi-lobed at one end that narrows before flaring out to a point to form the tip of the arrow. Dark green, rough patina. A pewter plate (Medieval - Post Medieval). The plate has a flat base with curving sides rising to a flange (width of flange: 35.11mm). The flange is angled towards the interior base. On the upper side of the rim is a curved "fillet"(thickness: 3.20mm). There is no sign of a maker's mark. The plate has a patchy black patina. It is similar to no. 501(Egan 1998:186 fig. 149) which dates to the 14th century but on this example the base if flat rather than convex. Dimensions: diameter: 271mm; height: 37mm; approximate weight: 520g.
