Object type: BROOCH
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Late first century cast cu-alloy Romano-British fibula of Dolphin/Polden Hill type. It is complete and in splendid condition. The wings are cylinder-shaped with the hinged pin in the centre. There is no coil below the cylinders which are decorated with six ring-and-dot motifs in a horizontal line each spaced about 3mm apart - three on either side of the bow. The wings and bow are decorated with 'coiled trumpet' motifs facing each other to form a beaded pattern line, a motif frequently used on Iron Age and Romano-British metalwork.
