Object type: STRAP FITTING

Post Medieval copper alloy sword belt fitting. It is roughly foliate in design with a rounded hook at one end, a trefoil-like terminal at the other and two iron rivets through it. The hook, which would originally have hung down forming the 'bottom' of the item has been bent out and there is also other damage to the plate. This would originally have been one of two or three fittings that together formed a hanging arrangement for a sword.
