A large fragment of antler, probably Palaeolithic (500,00-8,300BC). The fragment contains three branches and part of the main shaft. Angela Houghton (Natural History Curator, Museum of Reading) has identified this as an antler from a very large Red Deer. She adds judging from the size it must be ancient probably Palaeolithic. There are no tool marks or signs of use present. Dimensions: length: 270.27mm; width: 126.12mm; thickness: 43.97mm; weight: 481g.

A Prehistoric flint ‘pounder’ (500,000 – 800BC). This is a flint nodule where two flakes were removed to create the platform. From this platform several small flakes have been removed at a steep angle. The flint is not good quality. Around the edges there is damage caused by using the tool to strike something repeatedly. This is human use rather than accidental damage. Approximately 80% of the cortex remaining. Dark grey flint with some opaque patination. Dimensions: length: 118.01mm; width: 73.83mm; thickness: 62.73mm; weight: 533g.

A Prehistoric worked flint flake (500,000 - 1,500BC). Dark grey/ brown flint with no patina. This is a primary flake with approximately 45% cortex remaining. There is a small area of retouch (length: 15.77mm), on the ventral surface on one side. Also there is some modern damage that has removed the butt and some of the cortex. The appearance of the flake is very 'fresh' with excellent preservation of the retouch. Dimensions: length: 37.26mm; width: 51.35mm; thickness: 6.41mm; weight: 12.49g.
