Medieval vessel; Rim sherd of coarse, late medieval, Midlands pottery. The sherd has a broad, squared rim and is decorated with two horizontal incised lines, about 10mm below the lower edge of the rim. The curvature of the sherd indicates that the vessel originally had an internal diameter (at the rim) of about 100mm. There are the remains of a purple-brown glaze on the interior of the sherd. The fabric of the sherd is dark grey with few voids but frequent inclusions of white and orange, non-crystalline material. The inclusions are mostly quite small (approx 0.5-1mm). Length 76.9mm,…

A fragment of a possibly Roman vessel, which is unusual in form with a lip/rim, and original diameter is 15cm. There is a drilled circular hole through the inner fragmentary edge, implying that this vessel could have been some sort of press of strainer possibly for cheese.
