A complete cast copper alloy quillon dagger guard of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. The guard is lozenge shaped in plan at the centre and hexagonally faceted, with short arms which are also hexagonally faceted and hexagonal in section and which flare towards their terminals. The central lozenge shaped section of the guard has a sub-oval perforation, through which the tang of the dagger blade would have passed. This measures approximately 8.5 mm across and 9 mm long. It is undecorated, although on either side of the base of the guard, to either side of the central perforation, there are sub-triangular grooves, presumably to allow the guard to to sit against the blade. The guard measures 57.05 mm in length, 13.8 mm in width at widest point (the central lozenge shaped area), 7.25 mm in thickness, and weighs 14.6 grams.
This quillon or dagger guard is of Medieval to Post-Medieval date, with parallels on the PAS database (see for example SF-683644, ESS-CF3053, DENO-B36372 or SF-7ECEA4) and from Medieval London (London Museum Medievgal Catalogue, 1967: pp. 40, figs. 6-7) suggesting a date range between the 14th and 17th centuries AD.

A fragment from a cast gilded copper-alloy cast saucer brooch of early Anglo-Saxon date, dating from circa AD 450 to 550. The remains of the brooch show that the front surface was decorated with a moulded 'running spirals' design. Some of the gilding has abraded away, exposing a black surface. Elsewhere patches of green copper corrosion are visible. On the reverse the remains of the broken hinge for the pin, or possibly the catchplate, are visible. The brooch fragment measures 23.64 mm long, 17.07 mm wide, 1.89 mm thick and weighs 2.2 grams.

An undatable, but possibly Post-Medieval (1500-1700), uniface lead token cut roughly circular and measuring 13-14mm in diameter. Weighs 1.77g.
Obverse: Cross pattée
Although no exact parallel could be found during an initial search, the token looks rather like a miniature communion wafer, so a tentative religious connection is suggested, and if so, it could be possibly 16th or 17th century in date.

BURNHAM HOARD 2010 T509: item B.5: Sword - Vollgriffschwerter 'metal hilted sword'
Cast copper alloy metal hilted sword or 'vollgriffschwerter'fragment.
The fragment is socketed, and is trapezoid in plan, formed of a cast piece of metal with a 'u' shaped opening extending from the base of the trapezoid. There is a cast collar around the shortest edge of the trapezoid. There is metal inserted into the socket, which is circular in cross section towards the apex of the trapezoid and flattens out at the base of the trapezoid to form a lozenge shaped cross section, with a central circular rib and two triangular wings.
It is 56.48mm long, 29.42mm wide across the base with the 'u' shaped opening being 27.06mm wide. It is 17.81mm wide at the apex of the trapezoid and 9.36mm thick. It weighs 78.28 grams.
The fragment is believed to be continental in origin. Steve Matthews (pers. Com) has commented that the restricted width of the hilt suggests that it is not a Hallstatt antenna sword, as these are usually are much wider. The 'collar' is common on late Urnfield swords with metal hilts, however, the example from the Burnham Hoard has horizontal ends at the bottom of the hilt, set with a right angle with the interior opening (the 'O' or omega shape). On almost every example Steve Matthews has seen, the hilts have had pointed tips on the inside with the ends often being set diagonally. It is highly likely that this item is a unique find for Britain, and there is no exact continental parallel known at this time.
