A Post-medieval copper-alloy bracelet or bangle of a form that was popular among the rural working classes of the 18th century. These bracelets are either plain or, like this example, decorated with a simple groove. This one has a groove decorated with small circular punch marks along the centre of the outer face. Very much like copper bracelets today, this 18th century version was worn in the belief that it would prevent or help relieve illnesses, in this case the 'ague', a type of fever that was rife at the time. A copper alloy loop chape from a Post Medieval shoe buckle dating from 1690 - 1720 AD. The chape is heart shaped and openwork with a single 'tongue' or internal spike for attachment to the leather. At the bottom of the heart projects and flared tab which terminates in a slot where the pin would have been attached, flanked by loops through which the spindle passed. These are now corroded suggesting the axis bar or pin was iron. This is probably a variert of the 'cooking pot' shaped chapes featured on page 96 of Whitehead's Buckles.

A copper alloy Medieval buckle plate with the frame and pin missing. The plate is rectangular and has folded hinges but these are broken. The two plates are joined by five dome headed rivets arranged two at each end and one in the centre. The centre rivet also attached a sheet decorative feature on the front plate; a piece of sheet in the shape of a cross fourchee (probably) but with two of the arms missing. The buckle dates from the 13th or 14th century. Compare BERK-84D391, ESS-1820B3, HAMP-DA2351 and LVPL-72F110. The extra sheet decorative feature seems unusual.

Part of a copper alloy knife holder or sheath dating from the Early Post Medieval period. It is a delicate U shaped piece of sheet copper alloy, broken on all edges. It would have formed a cylindrical (rounded oval) sheath or scabbard for a knife, probably with a loop so it could be attached to a chain from the belt. The sheath is decorated with a band of white metal or silvering across the sheath. At one end it curves downwards. Compare examples on page 42 of Bailey's Detector Finds 5.

Part of a Post Medieval coat hook dating from the 18th or 19th century. It has a circular attachment base with an iron core, which was probably a screw to fix the hook in place on the wall. There is a collar before the base, and the stem is also circular in section. The stem is broken, but is interesting because it appears to have been miscast. It has several large voids probably formed by bubbles in the molten metal during casting. Compare NARC591 and SUSS-59F935.

The centre of the face is obscured by iron corrosion, but two ears and a tuft of hair can be seen above and the nose can be seen below. There is also a raised border.
