An elaborate, enamelled copper-alloy object of unknown function. The object dates to the late Iron Age or Roman period. The object has a short cylindrical shank terminating with three outward curving 'leaves' or lips. Each leaf is concave and decorated with four sub-oval cells containing red enamel. Each cell is defined by an incised perimeter. The metal has a dark brown/grey patina. The base of the shank is flat and flared. The function of this object is unknown. A fragment of a Roman brooch, possibly a T-shaped, dolphin or similar type, manufactured from cast copper alloy and dating from c. AD 50-150. The object consists of the lower part of the bow with a fragment of catchplate attached. There are traces of a tin coating on the surface, and the bow has elaborate incised decoration consisting of parallel lines with lozenge-shaped indentations.

An incomplete post-medieval cast lead-alloy (pewter) spoon (c. AD 1600-1700). The remaining fragment of handle is circular in cross-section, while the bowl appears to have been pear-shaped in plan. Part of the spoon bowl is missing and what remains has become distorted in shape, though the triangular 'rat tail' decoration is visible on the rear. All surfaces are scratched and pitted with corrosion. A more complete example of a similar spoon-IOW-7617E0- may be seen on this database.

The upper surface is undecorated, with a dark green stable patina. Similar examples can be seen on this database, such as LVPL-DCD841. It is also similar to other objects described as furniture fittings, for example NMS-082327.

A cast copper alloy hinged plate from a medieval two-piece strap-end. The plate consists of a single, narrow piece of plate metal folded to form a loop at the terminal end. A rivet hole is visible at the atatchment edge and the front of the plate has incised decoration, the form of which is hidden by corrosion and dirt. In common with other medieval gilded metals, traces of a red substrate are visible on this object, and flecks of gold leaf are visible when the object is viewed using a microscope.
