A cast lead alloy Post-medieval token or tally, possibly used for reckoning concerning agriculture of livestock. The token is bifacial; one face has the Initials IHI, or an H flanked by two vertical lines, while the reverse has a four-lined design, reminiscent of a 'stick' person or anthropomorphic representation with long limbs. It may also be a crude 'wheel' design sometimes seen on tokens of this period.

A cast lead alloy bird feeder of Post-Medieval date. The feeder has a flat reverse to enable it to sit up against a cage or other item; the front of the feeder is rounded. The edges of the object are uneven. The object has a mid white patina and is undecorated. Although generally interpreted as bird feeders, these artefacts may also have been die shakers or measures. A parallel for this feeder was found in excavations in Southwark, London (Egan 2005: 129, no. 617). The London example was unstratified however, according to Egan, the earliest feeders of this form date from the late …

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A cast lead alloy (probably) late medieval or more probably a post-medieval (1450-1800) scabbard chape from a dagger. The chape is formed from a mid grey coloured metal alloy - most probably a lead alloy that seems to have been cast rather than formed from a single sheet of metal. It is broadly rectangular in plan with a tapered U shaped terminal; it is oval in cross section, however, it may have originally been sub-rectangular with rounded corners, having since been flattened / crushed and abraded in the ploughsoil. One edge is heavily corroded / eroded and a jagged tare is present, …

On the upper surface the square top has a raised X with a pellet in each. Between the square top and the base are four trapezoidal sides, two of which has a raised cross. A similar weight can be found in Biggs and Withers (2000, 29; ref. 62).
