A worn, bent and clipped silver Medieval penny of Edward I (1272-1307), Canterbury Mint, probably Class 10ab5, dated to AD 1303-1305. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, No. 1039/3.
This coin has been identified as probably Class 10ab5 based on the crown with three pellets below, the style of the R and S, and the legend 'EDWAR R'; however the extensive wear on the bust has prevented a certain classification as 10ab5. The 'S' in the legend is in retrograde, and the lettering on ANGL shows signs of being double-struck.

A complete silver medieval long-cross penny.
The penny is heavily worn and bent by farm machinery. The intial mark is a cross pattee. Only the start of the obverse legend is clear, being EDWAR. The mint is Canturbury. The C and E are closed, with round backs, suggesting class 6 to 11a, Edward I or II. The crown is too worn to distinguish its type, as is the face and neck.
Diameter 17.7mm,Weight 1.0g.
