Two sherds of medieval ceramic vessels.
The larger is a rim sherd. The fabric is oxidised and hard, with an irregular fracture. The core is grey, the outer parts of the fabric are buff to pink with a brown coating on the outer face and a black coating on the inner face. The inclusions are mainly large angular pieces of quartz which make the surface rough. The rim is flared outwards from the neck, straight, and with a slightly rounded square edge. It is 43.34mm wide, 34.67mm high and 12.29 mm thick. It weighs21.59g.

A copper alloy vessel leg dating from the late Medieval or early Post Medieval period. It is D shaped in section and sub rectangular in plan. The top edge is concave with broken edges where it has broken from the rounded vessel base. The leg tapers to the foor which is rounded. The leg has a light green patina.

An incomplete cast copper alloy skillet handle of medieval date. The handle fragment is rectangular in plan with a narrow ovate section. The upper surface is decorated with a moulded plait design while the reverse is undecorated.
The metal has a light brownish-green patina and is worn. The handle is 44.4mm long, 22.4mm wide, 7.4mm thick and weighs 42.g.
Copper alloy cooking vessels such as that which this fragment is from date fot the mid 13th to 16th century.

An incomplete Medieval to Late Post-Medieval (1200-1800) copper alloy foot from a cooking vessel, standing 87.57mm in height and weighing 244.74g. It is max.51.33mm wide and max.31.64mm thick.
The foot has a rounded base, flaring sides and a prominent central midrib. The base is solid for 37.76mm in height, where it is trapezoidal in cross-section, and the incomplete front extends upwards to the full height, consisting of the midrib and jagged edges to either side. An incomplete cast copper alloy leg or foot from a copper alloy vessel probably a cauldron of later medieval date (1300 - 1600).
It is broadly sub-rectangular in plan, expanding slightly from the foot to the top. In cross section the leg is broadly D shaped, with a flat back edge and three broad ribs on the face which run the length of the leg and through the foot.
At the bottom the leg swells to form a small bulbous projecting foot, above which a rib extends horizontally across the front face of the leg. The edge of the foot is broken with an uneven but patinated surface.

A Roman ceramic strainer sherd of possible Vectis Ware (c. 43-c. 350 AD).
This sherd is flat and dark grey on one side and reddish brown on the other side and has numerous perforations. Some of the perforations are not fully pierced through.
The breaks are old.

A complete cast lead pot mend of medieval date. The pot mend is comprised of two large sub-circular discs joined by a thick central shank and was used to mend a broken vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred.
The gap between the two plates contains ceramic material of a mid buff coloured fabric which aids in dating the object as a whole to the medieval period.
The metal is a dark greyish-white colour and is worn. The pot mend is 34.6mm long, 29mm wide, 17.9mm thick and weighs 61g.

A complete lead pot mend of medieval date. The pot mend is comprised of two large sub-circular discs joined by a thick central shank and was used to mend a broken vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred.
The gap between the two plates is quite wide and contains ceramic material of a pale buff coloured fabric which aids in dating the object as a whole to the medieval period.
The metal is a light greyish-white colour and is worn. The pot mend is 42.7mm long, 37mm wide, 14.2mm thick and weighs 66g.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy vessel of medieval date. The fragment is part of the leg of a probable cooking vessel. The leg is roughly D-shaped in section with a slightly concave reverse, rounded edges and three raised ridges on the front. Both ends of the fragment are broken and worn. The leg is 35.3mm long, 22.7mm wide, 8.9mm thick and weighs 25.1g.
The metal has a dark brownish-green patina and is worn. While it is not possible to allocate this fragment to a specific type a mid 13th to 16th century date is generally accepted for copper alloy cooking vessels.

Pottery base sherd from a cup. Slipware. A hard dull red fabric with splashed internal and external metallic glaze with an external trail of white slip. The vessel, perhaps a cup, had an estimated diameter of 120mm, with a flat base and a stepped foot. The body is corrugated; lightly on the middle part of the outside, and more prominently within. The area bearing white slip also bears crude knife-cut vertical slashes. The impression is of an individualistic piece. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1700.

A hard white fabric with white tin glaze overall bears a green stripe along its edge, and the edge of a blue and white transfer printed design featuring water on its flat base or top. A body sherd from a Roman greyware vessel. It is of a crude quadrilateral form with breaks that are fairly abraded. It is shallowly curved in profile. The fabric is fine and sandy with some possible mica inclusions. It is light/mid-grey in colour. There are low parallel ridges internally that might be throwing marks. Given the findspot it may have come from the kilns at Alice Holt (Helen Rees pers. comm. 24 May 2012).
