One loop of a Post medieval cast copper alloy double loop buckle. The remaining loop is D-shaped and triangular in section with an angled front, flat back and inner side. There is a triangular expansion in the centre of the outer edge and at either end of the strap bar. The expansions have three raised lines seperated by incised lines angling in from a curved, lobed outer edge to meet at a point on the inner side. The strap bar is narrowed with iron corrosion at one point, probably the remains of the pin. It is 28.6mm long, 26.2mm wide and 2.1mm thick; it weighs 3.61 grams.

Medieval cast copper alloy single loop trapezoid buckle frame, missing its pin and plate. The sides of the frame ate D-shaped in section with the outer edge longer than the strap bar. Both have indents in the centre for the pin. The outer edge has small rounded knops projecting from each corner and a larger oval knop projecting from the centre. The central knop appears to be decorated by incised lines but these are worn. It is 23.2mm wide, 26.7mm long, 3.3mm thick and weighs 4.43 grams.

Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop buckle frame with seperate iron spindle, copper alloy pin and chape.
The outer frame is rectangular with round corners. The outer edges widen towards the centre with with an inward curve and have a raised central section with tapers in width towards the outer ends. The raised sections have an indented central line as a pin rest flanked by multiple punched diagonals giving a leaf patten. Post Medieval copper-alloy double-loop buckle frame. The loops are D shaped in plan and trapezoidal in section with angled sides and wider back. From the centre of the outer edges of each loop projects a tri-lobed extension. Post Medieval copper alloy double loop buckle frame. It has two oval loops which are triangular in section with a flat back and inner side and convex curved outer side. The outer edges of the loops are widened. The strap bar is narrowed with lobed knops at either end. The pin is missing. One loop is bent upwards and the loop and strap bar are distorted. The frame is 36.8mm long, 24mm wide and 3.4mm thick. It weighs 6.58 grams.
A similar example with a recessed strap bar is illustrated in Whitehead (2003:54, Nos. 307) which he suggests dates to c.1500-1650 AD.

In the centre of the outer edge of each loop is a pair of protruding moulded knops with a indent and incised line between them where the pin rests. The frame is thin and C-shaped in section with a concave back. The strap bar is narrowed and slightly protrudes from the frame with a lobed knop on each end. Medieval or Post Medieval copper alloy double loop buckle frame. The frame has two oval loops with widened outer edges. They are triangular in section with flat backs and a rounded ridge around the front. One of the loops has a small perpendicular groove in the middle where the pin was. The strap bar is narrowed. The pin is missing. It is 24.3mm long, 19.1mm wide and 2.3mm thick; it weighs 3.04 grams.
Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead (Nos. 294-5, No. 334, 2003: 53-7) and are dated to c.1350-1650 AD.

Fragment of a late Roman cast copper alloy buckle, probably of Hawkes and Dunning Type IA. The fragment consists of the outer edge and one side of the oval shaped buckle, the rest is lost to old breaks. It is D-shaped in section, the front is convex and the back flat. The front of the outer edge is moulded into two dolphins heads facing each other with open jaws holding a pellet between them. Medieval copper alloy rectangular buckle with a complete locking arm and pin. The upper and lower sides of the frame are widened about one third of the way along from the inner edge and drilled to hold the seperate spindle for the pin. The pin is cast seperately from copper alloy and has a solid tube that goes over the spindle from which projects a long, flat triangular point. A separate locking bar sits on the end of the spindle, outside the frame. A cast copper-alloy pin of Medieval date (c. 1250 - c. 1400), with an oval loop at one end, which has become detached from an annular buckle or possibly brooch. The pin is D-shaped in cross-section with flat bottom and rounded top. It narrows slightly throughout its length from the loop towards the tip. The tip is undercut slightly. On the top of the shaft, near the junction with the loop there is a raised transverse line. The loop is probably incomplete asit is only 2/3rds of a circle. The pin is 36.2mm long including the loop, 10.5mm wide and 4.5mm thick; it weighs 2.96 grams.

Part of the front of a Post Medieval buckle plate. The plate has two long rectangular tabs that looped over the strap bar with a rectangular pin slot between them. They have broken across the bent end with a patinated break. At the end of the tabs the plate expands out into an oval then narrows abruptly before expanding out slightly to the terminal. One face of a Medieval copper alloy sheet buckle plate. The plate is rectangular with two rectangular tabs at one end to go over the frame with a slot between the for the pin and rectangular recesses to each side to fit the frame. It has broken across the bend of the tabs. The other end has a break in the centre which appears to be around a large circular rivet hole pushed through from the front, possibly a later repair. There are small circular rivet holes near three of the four corners. The front is plain. It is 24.1mm long, 15.7mm wide and 0.6mm thick; it weighs 0.97 grams.

Medieval copper alloy buckle plate with incised decoration and gilding. Part of the front of the plate survives; it is rectangular with two rectangular tabs at one end to go over the frame with a slot between the for the pin. It has broken across the bend of the tabs. The other end has broken at an angle across a central rivet hole. Both breaks are patinated. On the front are incised lines following int he edge and in the centre a triangle with the wider end around the rivet hole and filled with a zigzag line. It is 15.9mm long, 12.7mm wide and 1.3mm thick; it weighs 1.28 grams.

The rectangular sectioned sides have expanded rounded terminals at the outer end. The longer, wider, recessed outer edge has a separate copper alloy sheet roller wrapped around it. The frame is 13.9mm long by 14.2mm wide and 2.9mm thick. It weighs 0.89 grams in total.
Egan (2008:97) categorises this type as Type D dating from the late 13th to the late 14th centuries.

The object is sub-oval with a straight strap bar to one side and large projecting rounded knop in the centre of the slightly widened and thickened outer edge. The sides are rectangular in section. The strap bar is recessed with an indent in the centre, possibly for the pin.
It is 21.3mm long, 14.4mm wide and 2.9mm thick; it weighs 1.54 grams.

The outer edge is D-shaped in section, the upper and lower sides trianglar, all with flat backs. The pin is missing. The frame is 21.5mm long, 22.4mm wide and 3.9mm thick; it weighs 2.94 grams in total.
