Reverse inscription: PM [TRP II] COS II PP Cliff Reeves kindly identified this coin. Diameter: 18.1mm, Weight: 2.38gms, die axis: 12.

A corroded and incomplete 3rd-century, possibly irregular, base silver Roman denarius of Caracalla, 'VIRTVS AVGG', Rome mint (c. 201 - c. 206 AD; cf. R.I.C. 149; Reece issue period ). This coin has lost around a seventh of its flan in a curved circumferential loss. The reverse has suffered from corrosion while the obverse remains crisp.
