An assemblage of 19 ceramic pottery sherds. The assemblage consists of: One sherd of post-medieval to modern industrial tile fragment that weighs 51.55g and is 17.17mm thick. One well fired handle sherd of later medieval to post-medieval date that has a sandwich effect of oxidised outer and reduced core, weight is 19.33g and thickness is 12.73mm. Seven shell tempered ware sherds, total weight is 40.11g. Four of these sherds are undateable body sherds with a combined weight of 14.61g of the total 40.11g. A fossil sponge known as Poroshpaera, which are known to have been used in the early Bronze Age as stone beads. Kenneth Oakley's paper, published in an early volume of Antiquity, titled 'The Folklore of Fossils' discusses their use. Identified by Kevin Leahy and confirmed by Mr Paul Ensom, formally of the Natural History Museum. The spherical fossil measures: weight is 2.43g, height (where perforation is vertical) 12.54mm, diameter is 13.51mm and the circular perforation has a diameter of 3.92mm. A spherical stone, some of the outer surface damaged, with a circular perforation through the centre. The diameter of the perforation is 5.11mm. The bead weighs 3.60g has a height (edge of perforation to edge of perforation) of 15.16mm and width of 16.04mm. Discussion: Stones can have naturally occurring cylindrical perforations if the stone has formed around another item such as Belamite fossils. An oval shaped stone with a flattened base, that has a roughly circular perforation through the centre. The perforation is set at 90 degrees from the flattened base and has a diameter of 4.68mm. A bead of light blue opaque glass of uncertain date. This type of bead is notoriously difficult to date and could either be of Early-Medieval date or of Victorian (modern) date. Copper-alloy tweezers. Tweezers can be difficult to date as they alter very little between the start of the Roman period through to the early Anglo-Saxon period (43-750). These tweezers are formed from a single strip of copper-alloy that has a rectangular cross-section. The strip has been bent in half to form a suspension loop at the closed end. The external surface of the loop has a slight 'U' shaped depression along the centre that stops on both sides before the two sides of the strip come together again. A worked flint flake with some cortex present. This is probably a waste flake from flint working but might possibly have been or was intended to be a flint blade that now has an irregular transverse break travelling diagonally through the thickness of the flint . The fragment now has a roughtly squared shape with the length being only slightly longer than the width. The flake has a length of 19.93, width of 19.57mm, thickness of 5.87mm and weighs 2.96g.

A biconical lead steelyard weight of uncertain date. Although it is difficult to date weights this one may be Roman in date as it was found on a site producing prodominantly Roman artefacts. The weight is oval with a diameter of 27.56mm x 25.24mm and a height of 26.27mm. The artefact weighs 63.45g (2.24oz). It is uncertain whether the cross section of this weight was originally circular but has become reshaped into an oval under it's own weight. An iron attachment loop passed through the centre of the weight and the remains of this can be seen at either end.

The base has a diameter of 23.26mm and the sides slope upwards to a flat top with a diameter of c.15.00mm, this gives a flattened conical or hemispherical (D-shaped section). A circular perforation is present at the centre of the weight from flat base surface to flat top surface.
