An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of late post-medieval to modern date. The buckle is comprised of three circular elements each with ring and dot decoration and a fourth semi-circular element which separates two of the circular elements from the third. The semi-circular panel is decorated with an incised foliate design and is slightly thicker than the other elements to house the iron strap bar. The reverse is undecorated.
The metal has a dark blackish-green patina and survives in good condition. The buckle is 39.6mm long, 7.9mm wide, 3.8mm thick and weighs 4.2g.

An incomplete copper alloy buckle and plate of medieval date. The object is unusual as it has a rotating clasp for fastening rather than a pin. The buckle, plate and clasp are all separately made.
The frame is incomplete with only the strap bar and a short length of the frame to either side still remaining. The plate is rectangular with a centrally placed rectangular hole at which point it is fitted around the strap bar of the buckle. An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is a trapezoidal shoe or knee buckle with drilled frame for a separate spindle. The spindle no longer remains. The outer edges of the frame have moulded pin recesses flanked by two lobed knops. The sides are bifid with moulded bifid knops around the spindle holes.
The metal has a light reddish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 34.9mm long, 24.8mm wide, 4.1mm thick and weighs 4.5g.
A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.99, no.618 and is dated to circa 1660 - 1720.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped D-shape with a lipped framed for the pin and a narrowed and offset strap bar. A separately cast rectangular plate remains attached to the buckle frame being looped over the strap bar and folded back on itself. A single rivet is present placed centrally at the open end of the plate.
The metal had a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 28.7mm long, 13.6mm wide, 4.8mm thick and weighs 1.9g.
A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.21, no.76 and is dated to circa 1350 - 1450.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. All that remains of the buckle is the forked spacer and a short portion of the frame including the pin recess and pin. Plates remain in tact on both sides of the forked spacer though both are undecorated and worn and terminate in a fluted design.
The metal has a light brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 35.6mm long, 13.2mm wide, 4.2mm thick and weighs 5.3g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped oval with a decorated, integrally cast plate. Only a small fragment of the plate remains with a single rivet hole and the worn remains of a second adjacent to the worn break.
The metal has a mid reddish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 19.6mm long, 16.4mm wide, 3mm thick and weighs 1.9g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle plate of medieval date. The plate is rectangular in plan and the slotted hinge remains in place at one end with the strap bar still present. The opposite end is worn and broken with the distorted and broken forked spacer projecting from between the upper and lower plates. The upper plate is decorated with an incised design featuring a flower or sunburst while the lower plate is undecorated.
The metal has a light brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle plate is 33.5mm long, 18.6mm wide, 3mm thick and weighs 7.1g.

The metal has a dark blackish-green patina and is slightly worn. The buckle is 23.9mm long, 17.2mm wide, 3.2mm thick and weighs 2.5g.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is an asymmetrical shape with moulded decoration on the loop. The inner and outer edges are bevelled and two lobed knops are present projecting at symmetrical points on the outer curved edge. Small knops are also present at either end of the strap bar and the six knops are present on the outer edge of the rectangular loop.
The metal has a mid brownish-green patina with traces of silvering and is slightly worn. The buckle is 24.8mm long, 18.6mm wide, 2.2mm thick and weighs 2.8g.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy buckle frame of post-medieval date. The buckle has a swollen centre and an incised line of decoration along the inner edge. On the reverse is an expansion to house the strap bar which is represented by iron corrosion.
The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and survives in good condition despite its incompleteness. The buckle is 28.7mm long, 6.8mm wide, 5.1mm thick and weighs 2.7g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is roughly one half of a double loop oval buckle with one surviving moulded knop at the end of the narrowed strap bar. The outer curved edge is decorated with three incised lines resulting in a serrated edge effect. The buckle is otherwise undecorated.
The metal is a mid brownish-green colour and is worn. The buckle is 31.6mm long, 20.1mm wide, 1.9mm thick and weighs 2.7g.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is a sub-rectangular shoe buckle with a drilled frame for separated spindle. The corners are curved and the pin and stud chape remain in tact. A large amount of iron corrosion around the spindle area suggests the spindle was composed of iron.
The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 27.1mm long, 19.4mm wide, 4mm thick and weighs 4.4g.

The sides are moulded and concave with ring and dot motif to either side of the spindle holes. A worn design is present on the outer edge of each loop and it's exact nature cannot be determined. The spindle, pin and chape no longer remain.
The metal has a dark blackish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 38.4mm long, 26mm wide, 2mm thick and weighs 5.2g.
