A cast copper-alloy buckle of 17th-18th century date. The buckle is double-looped, with flaring D-shaped outer frames emerging either side of a cast integral crossbar. Grooved, moulded banding runs across the width of the outer frame at both ends of the buckle, and one end shows a work groove in the outer frame.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Post Medieval buckle, c. 1600-1720 AD. The frame is a double loop sub-oval buckle with rounded ends and inward projecting knops at the outer edges. A light V-shaped incised decoration is visible at either end of the narrowed strap bar and a single incised line at the outer edges. The reverse face is flat and undecorated. The pin is missing. The frame measures 31.99 mm long, 17.98 mm wide at the strap bar, 2.25 mm thick and weighs 2.94 grams. Cf. Whitehead 2003, p71.

The remains consist of a double loop asymmetrical buckle from with lobed knops on the external corners of the rectangular loop, at either end of the strap bar and at two symmetrical points on the outer edge of the rounded loop. The frame is decorated with a bifid narrow end with ovoid knops on the corners of the frame; the other is a quatrefoil wide end with large lobed knops on the end of winged extensions. A copper-alloy double-loop asymmetrical buckle of post-Medieval date. One side of the buckle is 'D-shaped', while the other is roughly rectangular. The two sides are separated by a central axis bar of trapezoidal section, which extends to a knop at each end and has attached iron corrosion from the otherwise missing pin. An angled knop marks each of the four corners of the frame and the straight vertical side has been scalloped. The surfaces of the frame have been silvered or tinned. An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of late post-medieval to modern date. The buckle is comprised of three circular elements each with ring and dot decoration and a fourth semi-circular element which separates two of the circular elements from the third. The semi-circular panel is decorated with an incised foliate design and is slightly thicker than the other elements to house the iron strap bar. The reverse is undecorated. The metal has a dark blackish-green patina and survives in good condition. The buckle is 39.6mm long, 7.9mm wide, 3.8mm thick and weighs 4.2g.

A complete Post Medieval cast copper alloy double looped trapezoidal buckle. The loops are rectangular with the outer edge pointed and bevelled. The cast copper alloy pin is still present. There is a lobed knop on either end of the strap bar. The back of the frame is flat.There is evidence of that the buckle was tinned. The buckle measures 42.49mm long, 24.32mm wide, 2.61mm thick and it weighs 9.47 grams. Whitehead (2003) illustrates similar buckles (page 82, Nos. 512-513) which he dates to c.1620-1680 AD.

Part of the front of a Post Medieval buckle plate. The plate has two long rectangular tabs that looped over the strap bar with a rectangular pin slot between them. They have broken across the bent end with a patinated break. At the end of the tabs the plate expands out into an oval then narrows abruptly before expanding out slightly to the terminal. An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is a trapezoidal shoe or knee buckle with drilled frame for a separate spindle. The spindle no longer remains. The outer edges of the frame have moulded pin recesses flanked by two lobed knops. The sides are bifid with moulded bifid knops around the spindle holes. The metal has a light reddish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 34.9mm long, 24.8mm wide, 4.1mm thick and weighs 4.5g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.99, no.618 and is dated to circa 1660 - 1720.

A fragment of a post-Medieval openwork buckle frame (c. 1720-c. 1790 AD). The fragment is moulded at the front and flat at the rear. At the front it is in the form of a flower head with six evenly spaced pellets representing petals with a similar pellet at the centre. Two small protrusions are portions of openwork. There are traces of gilding at the front. 15.49 x 8.99 x 2.69mm. Weight: 1.37g.

A Post medieval buckle made in copper alloy. The front of the buckle pin has four moulded knops. There are three lines that run down the middle of the knops and the line in the middle serves as a notch for the pin. The pin is on the buckle but it is quite fragile. On the back of the pin it is smooth with no knops or lines. The length of the buckle is 21mm and the width is 18mm. The weight of the buckle is 2.51 grams.

An incomplete Early Post-Medieval (1500-1700) copper alloy cast strap plate for a double oval buckle frame, with one iron rivet in situ. It is missing another rivet and its back plate (old break). It measures 30.57x15.04x2.98mm and weighs 3.25g. The attachment plate (1.76mm thick) has two arms either side of a cut-out for the pin, broken just as they begin to curve (originally around the buckle's axis bar).
