A complete silver groat of Henry VIII (AD 1509-1547), struck in London between AD 1532-1542. The coin appears to have an arrow on the reverse, but the obverse initial mark is hard to discern; this may be a mule as there are crosses / roses in the arms of the cross on the reverse, and mules were not uncommon for this period of issue. A fragment of a silver post-medieval shilling, probably of Elizabeth I (reigned AD 1558-1603). The coin is almost an exact quarter and it may have been deliberately cut along the lines of the cross on the reverse, although an uneven patina at the break perhaps suggests that this is more modern damage.
