Post Medieval silver plated contemporary copy of a half crown of Charles I (1625-1649). The forgery is probably based on a Group III silver half crown, with the third depiction of the king on horseback on the obverse and a round shield on the reverse, North No's 2209-2213.
The edges of the coin are uneven, the surfaces are worn and the copper alloy base is showing in places, particularly on the obverse.

Post medieval silver halfgroat of Charles I (1625-1649), Group D, Fourth bust, crown initial mark, minted at London, AD 1635-6, North (1991:162) no.2257.
The coin has been pierced at about 8 o'clock nearer the centre than the edge. The sides have been bent forward and back creating an S-shaped cross section, in the way discribed as a 'love token'.
