An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is annular with a circular section and is undecorated. The pin is rectangular in section and is looped loosely around the frame. The tip of the pin has been lost to an old worn break. No recess for the pin is present. The metal has a dark greenish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 38.6mm in diameter, 3.9mm thick and weighs 8.7g. Egan and Pritchard, p.57, suggest that annular rings with pins that do not have a pin constriction on the frame should be considered buckles rather than brooches and illustrate similar…

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped oval with a single collared knop projecting from the outer edge and a narrowed and offset strap bar. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 17.5mm long, 11.8mm wide, 2.6mm thick and weighs 0.7g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.21, no.85 and is dated to circa 1250 - 1400.

An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy buckle plate and pin (c. 1270-c. 1350 AD). The plate is sub-rectangular in plan and the loop is missing. At the loop end it is straight and has a circular pin hole, 4.36mm in diameter. Close to this hole there is another smaller hole. At the opposite end, the sides of the plate taper and then expand to form a fan-shaped projection. At the centre of the narrowest part at this end there are the remains of a copper-alloy rivet. The front of the plate is decorated with stamped ring-and-dot motifs and the rear face is plain. The wire pin is copper…

An Early Medieval copper alloy gilded openwork brooch. Motif: sinuous zoomorphic interlace in the Urnes style. The head, the body and the tail are recognizable. Remains of gilding on the outter surface. The mount has a semi-circular section. On the reverse, a part of the catchplate and pin lug have been preserved. The pin is missing.

A complete cast lead token of medieval to post-medieval date. The unifaced token is flat and circular and is decorated on one face with a raised six spoke design. The metal is a mid greyish-white colour and is worn. The token is 14.4mm in diameter, 2.6mm thick and weighs 3g. The pot mend is comprised of two large sub-circular discs joined by a thick central shank and was used to mend a broken vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred. The gap between the two plates contains ceramic material of a mid buff coloured fabric which aids in dating the object as a whole to the medieval period. The metal is a dark greyish-white colour and is worn. The pot mend is 34.6mm long, 29mm wide, 17.9mm thick and weighs 61g.
