A rim sherd from a Post Medieval ceramic vessel dating from the late 17th century probably. It had a rim diameter of about 11cm, and has a thin flared rim. The fabric is dark red to purple and the inclusions are not visible. It has a streaked dark brown glaze on both faces. Compare figure 21 on page 14 of Post Medieval Pottery 1650 - 1800 by Jo Draper.

Three sherds of Post Medieval ceramic vessels probably dating from 1550 - 1700 AD. They are all tiny fragments, one base, one rim and one wall sherd. The fabric is very hard and quite fine; dark red to purple or grey in colour. There are infrequent mica and red iron ore inclusions. The sherds are glazed with a lustrous dark brown to black glaze on both faces. The fabric seems similar to Wrenthorpe Black Ware.

A sherd of a Post Medieval ceramic vessel probably dating from 1550 - 1700 AD. It is a rim sherd with a rim diameter of about 13cm. The fabric is very hard and quite fine; creamy buff throughout but fading to tan on the outer face, and with few visible inclusions, just sparse tiny flecks of mica. It is glazed on the inside with a lustrous clear to yellow glaze. The rim is stepped to provide a seating for a lid. The fabric seems similar to Earlier Wrenthorpe Yellow Ware.

The fabric is very hard and quite fine; orange throughout and with sparse rounded quartz inclusions. It is glazed on the inside with a lustrous dark brown to black glaze.

The outer face is speckled with clear and purple splashes of glaze.

An incomplete clay pipe of post-medieval date. The bowl of the pipe is quite large and bulbous with an incised circumferential line around the rim. A prominent flat foot is present beneath the bowl with no discernable makers mark. The tube extends from the base of the bowl, parallel to the foot, extending a short length to a worn break. The circular hole through the tube is slightly off-centre. Pipes such as this are an early form in the typology of clay pipes and would generally date from the mid 17th century. The pipe is 55.3mm long, 22.4mm in diameter at widest point and weighs 19.2g.

An incomplete wheelspun ceramic vessel rim of post-medieval date: 16th/17th century. The fragment has a wide square sectioned rim and narrow body fragment with a slightly curved profile. The fabric is hard and fine with a few small white, non-calcite, inclusions. It is a buff coloured throughout and is coated in a shiny black glaze on the internal surface. The rim fragment is 48.5mm long, 32.2mm wide, 13.1mm thick and weighs 21.2g.

An incomplete wheelspun ceramic vessel rim of medieval date: 13th - 14th century. The fragment is rectangular in plan and tapers in width from the wide rim to the worn break where it has broken from the body of the vessel. The fabric is hard and fine with no visible inclusions but numerous ovoid voids. It is a dull grey colour internally with a light orange outer surface. Patches of an olive green glaze survive on the inner and outer surfaces of the vessel. The rim fragment is 54.5mm long, 39.5mm wide, 20.3mm thick and weighs 50.1g.

It is a dull buff colour throughout and is coated in a deep green glaze. The upper surface of the handle is ribbed with six shallow parallel grooves. The handle fragment is 105.9mm long, 28.5mm in diameter and weighs 97g.

A fragment of a handmade ceramic vessel handle of medieval date: 13th - 14th century. The handle is oval in section with three deep grooves running longitudinally on the upper surface. These grooves were formed by pressing a thumb into the soft ceramic material and dragging it along the handle. The central groove appears to have been made last as it over cuts the two outer grooves. The fabric is soft and smooth with no visible inclusions but a few sporadic circular voids. A sherd of a Medieval ceramic vessel. It is a rim sherd from a vessel with a rim diameter of about 10cm. The fabric is hard with an irregular texture. The inner face is banded in grey and pink buff and fades to tan buff on the outer face. There are numerous poorly sorted grit and quartz inclusions as well as possible slag and black iron ore. The rim is flat topped but with a small beaded moulding on the outer face. There is a patch of clear glaze on the outer face.
