Description: An incomplete silver-gilt finger ring of medieval date. The finger ring consists of a slender hoop, roughly half of which has been lost to old breaks, which widens into a double bezel. The shoulders to either side of the bezel are decorated with worn moulded elements which probably represent animal heads. The bezel splits into two from the shoulders expanding into shallow conical settings which would most probably have contained glass or enamel. An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped oval with a wide outer edge with recess for a sheet roller. The buckle constricts towards the strap bar which no longer remains. The pin also no longer remains. The metal has a light reddish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 19.7mm long, 21.7mm wide, 8.2mm thick and weighs 5.3g.

A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped oval with a narrowed and offset strap bar. The outer edge is ornate being decorated with two angled knops flanking two transverse ridges and a central notch for the pin. The pin no longer remains. The metal has a dark reddish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 27.6mm long, 22.8mm wide, 3.9mm thick and weighs 5.9g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.22, no.91 and is dated to circa 1250 - 1400.

A complete cast lead spindle whorl of medieval to post-medieval date. The spindle whorl is bi-conical with a central perforation running through it. Both sides are incredibly worn rendering any decoration difficult to determine though the regularity of some ridges and grooves suggest decoration is present. The metal is a mid greyish-brown colour and is very worn. The spindle whorl is 24.2mm in diameter, 10.7mm thick and weighs 25.1g. An incomplete cast copper alloy seal matrix of medieval date. The seal matrix is circular with a tapering hexagonal stem which splits to form the handle before terminating in a worn break. The central motif is extremely worn though appears to be a crude fleur-de-lis and no text is discernable. The metal has a dark greyish-brown patina and is extremely worn. The seal is 16.6mm long, 17.7mm in diameter and weighs 4.9g.

A fragment of a glass bottle of modern date: 19th century. The fragment is part of the neck and rim of a bottle. The rim is circular in plan, rectangular in section and is slightly raised from the surface of the neck which is also circular and flares outward slightly before terminating in an irregular and worn break. The glass is a dark green colour which appears black at the thicker points. The fragment is 59.7mm long, 36.8mm wide, 9mm thick and weighs 50.6g.

A complete cast silver spoon of post-medieval to modern date. The bowl is extremely worn and bent making its original shape difficult to determine though it is probably oval. The stem is rectangular in section and widens out to a bulbous terminal. The upper surface of the terminal is inscribed with the letter "W" and the underside shows traces of markings, probably a hallmark, which is now largely indistinguishable. The spoon is 76.1mm long, 27.6mm wide, 1.5mm thick and weighs 12.9g.

An incomplete clay pipe of post-medieval date. The bowl of the pipe is quite large and bulbous with an incised circumferential line around the rim. A prominent flat foot is present beneath the bowl with no discernable makers mark. The tube extends from the base of the bowl, parallel to the foot, extending a short length to a worn break. The circular hole through the tube is slightly off-centre. Pipes such as this are an early form in the typology of clay pipes and would generally date from the mid 17th century. The pipe is 55.3mm long, 22.4mm in diameter at widest point and weighs 19.2g.

An incomplete wheelspun ceramic vessel rim of post-medieval date: 16th/17th century. The fragment has a wide square sectioned rim and narrow body fragment with a slightly curved profile. The fabric is hard and fine with a few small white, non-calcite, inclusions. It is a buff coloured throughout and is coated in a shiny black glaze on the internal surface. The rim fragment is 48.5mm long, 32.2mm wide, 13.1mm thick and weighs 21.2g.

The fabric is hard and fine with no visible inclusions but numerous ovoid voids. It is a dull grey colour internally with a light orange outer surface. Patches of an olive green glaze survive on the inner and outer surfaces of the vessel. The rim fragment is 54.5mm long, 39.5mm wide, 20.3mm thick and weighs 50.1g.

Oysters were a common foodstuff from the Roman period until the late Post-Medieval period with their status as a luxury food being comparatively recent. With no contextual evidence it is not possible to ascribe this example to a specific date. The shell is 58.2mm long, 46.4mm wide, 6.2mm thick and weighs 16.9g.
