A complete cast lead or lead alloy unifaced token of probable Post Medieval dating (1600 to 1700 AD). The token is broadly circular in plan. The upper face (obverse) exhibits a saltire cross design (powell type 14), and the lower face (reverse) is plain. The token is a dark grey colour, with an even surface patina. It demonstrates a small degree of abrasion, caused by movement whilst within in the plough soil. The token measures 12.6mm in diameter and is 4.42mm thick. It weighs 4.0 grams.

A Medieval to Post Medieval lead token with (possibly) initials C O H on the reverse. The obverse shows a pattern of about five flower petals. There is also evidence on both sides of the token being "milled", or at least moulded to imitate milled coinage, which came in towards the end of the reign of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603).

A Post Medieval lead token, circa AD1600 - 1800, with slightly ragged edges. On the obverse there are two possible initials... M or N with a series on otherwise unintellible vertical and diagonals. The Reverse has eight spokes, with a pellet between each spoke and in the centre, from which the spokes radiate, the remains of a central pellet. Part of the edge of the token appears to bear "milled" marking.

It is uniface, with an unclear square shape, that may be either joined initials (i.e. I T), or more likely a type 13 according to the Powell Classification (framework). A single pellet sits outside the frame. The plain reverse has two short parallel cuts. It measures 14.16 mm DIA x 3.28 mm TH and weighs 2.58 g. See Fletcher 2005

A Post-Medieval (1500-1800) double-sided lead token, measuring 16.94mm in diameter, 2.52mm thick and weighing 4.7g. The obverse has the raised initials NC while the reverse has an uncertain pattern or letter formation, consisting of three verticals and two vertically-arranged pellets. The central vertical stops short of another pellet. Lead tokens with simple designs are very easy to make and would have had a wide variety of uses. They were undoubtedly made locally and continued to be produced over a long period. Those with initials are generally thought to date to the Post-Mediev…
