A gold finger ring of a style attributable to the 14th century AD. The frame is mis-shapen but is approximately 15mm in diameter and D-shaped in section. 1.5mm wide each side of the bezel, the frame narrows towards the back and appears to have been worn thinner through use. A rectangular segment separates the frame from the bezel. This segment is 1.8mm wide and 3mm long with 5 linear grooves etched into it. The surviving section is composed of a series of gold filigree double-loop links, the bars of which were threaded with polyhedral faceted beads of the green stone variscite. Seven beads survive. Description: A gold biconical bead from a necklace, made from a single coiled length of plain unbeaded wire. Both ends of the wire appear original; one is neatly tapered and the other has a blunter end. The coils are soldered together, but there does not appear to be an internal backplate to which the wire is soldered, as there are occasional cracks through which the solid soil infilling can be seen. Penannular ring having narrow stripes of alternately yellow and whiter gold. The surface is rather worn except for the interior of the hoop where the striping is protected. The hoop tapers to flat terminals. When tested the ring was found to be of the type consisting of a gold covering over a non-precious metal core (see report).
