A silver hammered halfpenny of Henry VIII, 1509-1547. Obverse shows forward facing crowned bust with a 'T' & 'C' either side. Obverse legend reads [H D G ROSA SIE SPIA] possibly with saltire stops. Reverse shows solid long cross with three pellets per quarter. Reverse legend reads CI[VI/TAS/CAN]/TOR. The TC on the obverse confirms the Canterbury mint and stands for Archbishop Thomas Cranmer. This coin is from the second coinage, 1526-1544, See North, J.J. Vol. II, 1991, p.112, no. 1817 & Spink (42nd Ed.) 2007, p.216-217, no.2358.
