A cast copper alloy strap fitting. This fitting is hollow, D-shaped in section, and has a projecting hooK. The separately-applied back plate is now mostly missing. Decoration is in the form of a closely-spaced single-stranded diaper inlaid with niello. Similar decoration is commonly used on contemporary purses and these objects may have been connected with their use.
