An incomplete fragment from a cast copper alloy 'fob' seal of modern date probably later 18th or early 19th Century (1740-1850). The seal matrix is composite, being formed from a clear glass intaglio set into a machine pressed body. The metal body is broken and damaged, the upper part including the loop is lost. The lower part comprises an irregular octagonal (rectangular with the corners taken off) setting with scroll like patterns on the upper surface. A single hole is present in the middle. The intaglio is well cut or possibly moulded; the design consists of a couple engaging in a sexual act on a stylised couch. The figures are not well realised and slightly caricatured. The overall scene has a 'classical style' in line with the Georgian Classical Revival. The glass setting is slightly chipped and rolled - although this does not affect the central scene. This form of fob seal is common in the 18th century, often being mass produced.
The intaglio measures 13.4mm length 12.5mm width, is 3.3mm thick and weighs 1.18 grams
The setting measures 15.6mm length 14.9mm width, is 5.1mm thick and weighs 1.62 grams

Copper alloy thimble. Cast domed thimble of 'beehive' form, with an inscribed foot ring. Punched indentations appear around the sides and over most of the top, with an apical field left empty. These appear to have been punched in circumferential rows, and those on the upper curving surface are of diminishing size. A pair of adjacent splits appears in the side, and several indentations are either corroded or pierced through. Suggested date: Early Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.

Lead weight. Cast shield-shaped weight. A crudely defined incised border encloses the sunken outline of an open crown with side fleurs and a lis in low relief below it. The crown either resembles or has been reformed to become a sunken leopard head motif. This has been accomplished, particularly at the left fleur/ear and along the band of the crown/head, by further cutting. Three angular stamps appear within this outline: they appear as a T shape, an I shape and as a small stalked rhomboid, and probably represent episodes of official inspection of the weight, a process which continued until the 18th century when the use of lead weights was proscribed.
This object appears to (under)represent one averdepois pound of 454gms. Medieval weights claiming official status were variously distinguished by crown and lis or by (more usually in a series of three) leopards, and all three motifs may have been adopted here in sequence. A deep gouge on the back appears to be of recent date. The inspection stamps may date from regimes of the 17th century or later, suggesting a long working life for this object, and a rather lackadaisical approach to the enforcement of standards of weights and measures until the Early Modern period. Suggested date: Medieval, 1350-1500. Length: 81.7mm, Width: 62.4mm, Thickness: 11mm, Weight: circa 435gms

An incomplete cast lead figurine of probable Roman date. The figure is of in a semi-seated position to its left and is of indeterminate sex. The head turned slightly to its left with both arms raised. The figure appears to have curled hair around the face and a fringe. The facial features are worn. The raised left arm is sub-rectangular and in poor condition however it may be holding a rectangular object. The right arm which is incomplete has a fold of material, or possibly an object resting on top along its length. Clothing detail on the torso of the figure is unclear. The details of the figure are all lost due to extreme wear. The metal has a mid greyish-brown patina and is worn. The rear of the object is undecorated and flat. It is D-shaped in cross-section.

A cast lead alloy Post-medieval token or tally, possibly used for reckoning concerning agriculture of livestock. The token is bifacial; one face has the Initials IHI, or an H flanked by two vertical lines, while the reverse has a four-lined design, reminiscent of a 'stick' person or anthropomorphic representation with long limbs. It may also be a crude 'wheel' design sometimes seen on tokens of this period.

Copper alloy book fitting. Cast plano-convex strip with the stub of a broken loop of internal diameter 3.5mm at one end. Relief decoration comprises a series of three angular chevron steps next to the loop, and a similar step, reversed in its orientation, at the other end next to a flat-ended terminal. Sunken chevrons converge to decorate a triangular section field between these zones of relief decoration. The flat back of the mount is lightly sunken along its centre line, though it is uncertain whether this is a deliberate or adventitious feature. Lightly bent along its length, perhaps from its forcible removal from a flat setting. Suggested date: Early Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.
Length: 42.6mm, Width: 9.1mm, Thickness: 3.4mm, Weight: 6.53gms.
